Introducing Camille | The Head

We love Camille's huge head - that's the bathroom for you landlubbers. It has two separate areas, a shower/toilet area and the vanity/sink area. It can be entered either from the master stateroom (aft cabin) and from the saloon (and yes, that is saloon with two Os). Excellent ventilation with four opening ports and two large drains in the floor make for easy maintenance and cleaning. Last but not least we have a fresh-water VacuFlush head (toilet) which is the only head that I know of that doesn't smell, aside from the composting head we had on our previous boat. 2. Dani, We had the Nature's Head. It was great! Loved the fact that the seat was integrated so no sliding seat in rough seas. I read your post about your new head last night. Tried to leave a comment but Mexican internet got the better of me :)
My only suggesting would be to keep that vent line as short as possible since you really have to move a lot of air to keep the "deposits" dry (not too dry though). Otherwise you get bugs. And they can fly! Eeeeek! You'll have to start all over, scrub the thing clean and start with a fresh batch of compost. I also highly suggest getting DrainCare. It's just enzymes in powder form available at your local hardware store. Just add a little every time you use it (for #2). It helps break down the compost a lot faster. For #1 we always wanted to add a direct overboard line so you don't have to empty the bottle every other day (of course you can't do this in the US). Also see this link and comments:

Feel free to email with any questions! Good luck!

  3. Thanks, I'll check that link out. Did you really find that the liquid container was filled every 2 days? We got an extra container to make it easier to transition.

  4. @Dani - Just a about a couple of days with regular use and depending on how much we were drinking ;)
Outside of the US there is really nowhere to pump out so I would suggest plumbing it overboard rather than first into the container and then you dumping it overboard. The container gets quite yucky so get have some Coca-Cola on hand to remove the build-up inside the tank. From the Nature's Head website: "All urine has an odor. It will not be noticed with normal use. It will be present when the storage container is open to the air for emptying. For persistent urine odors to the container the addition of 1 tablespoon of raw sugar to the tank will reduce this odor."
